We all know that regularly grooming our pets help them look a little more presentable, but what are the health benefits of grooming?
Dogs and Cats need to be groomed frequently to help maintain good health, and keep an eye out for anything abnormal going on with them as well.
Below we explain what good grooming is, and why grooming your pet is important.
Brushing:
Frequently brushing your cat or dog is a requirement to keep their hair and skin healthy. Brushing helps remove loose hairs, evenly distribute the natural oils being produced, and prevent any matting.
When your pet has mats and tangles it can pull or tear the skin, or even restrict the airflow to the skin. Plus groomers charge extra for removing mats.
As we get closer to spring time, cats and dogs will be shedding more. Be sure to brush them often to alleviate the amount of hair you will have to clean up around your home.
Bathing:
Bathing your pet works a little different than brushing. If you bathe your dog/cat too often it can actually be bad for their health.
When you bathe your pet too often the natural oils they produce are being stripped away from the skin, leaving it itchy, flakey, and possible dry patches.

Nail Trimming:
Dogs and Cats have nails too! And just like us, they need theirs trimmed regularly.
When your pet’s nails get too long they run the risk of getting stuck on carpet, injury to you or your pet, and ingrown nails.
If you have a difficult time trimming your pet’s nails, leave it to the professionals! To book an appointment click here.
